I feel like I've been staring at the same screens for the past week for the Finance class. I'm somewhat perplexed at why this is happening. Everything has been set up for me to succeed. The calculations have been done for me, so I don't have to worry about my math being off. The course mentor has a total of 6 videos, one for each individual task plus one to getcha started. He also hosts "study sessions" every Tuesday evening. This class is all about interpreting the results, rather than generating them. Kelly has told me that he is exceptionally friendly and genuinely wants students to do well.
Why is it then, that I'm having such trouble? I'm not sure yet. I think my strategy now is to re-watch the getting started video, as well as the video for Task 1. Second, I'm going to attend one of the study sessions. I'm optimistic that Finance doesn't have to be difficult. It just may be that I'm getting in my own way.
Kelly, my student mentor has been wonderful to me. She's given me the green light to start my next class, IT Project Management if and when I get frustrated with Finance. I need to get a rhythm going again, something I've not felt for a number of months. That being said, I'm going to focus on the Project Management class for now. I need to get some more confidence and get that rhythm that I had with ECommerce back. I really want to keep my intensity up, with the goal of having enough time to get a fourth class done within this 6 month term.
What do you do when you're struggling to get started with a class? Do you have any tips?
As always, I keep moving forward.
